The California State Guard is a volunteer emergency response force protecting California and its citizens from wildfires, earthquakes, floods, pandemics, civil unrest, and other disasters - both natural and man-made.
There are over a thousand volunteer service members in the California State Guard. Many of these volunteers regularly travel from across the state for monthly drills and annual trainings far from home. With the elevated costs of fuel, we must continue to be creative in how to best mitigate the financial impact to the service member. The financial burden to individual service members, who reach into their own pockets to purchase uniforms and attend training, continues to be an obstacle to volunteering.
The California State Guard is made up of military veterans, private sector professionals, public safety employees, and many others who volunteer their time and efforts year-round.
Having the resources, equipment, and training needed to handle emergencies that affect our state, from worsening fires to increasing droughts to global pandemics to international cyber threats.
Receiving operational gear and updated equipment, training, and protective gear for firefighters on the front lines, and medical personnel on relief missions.
Equipment for security response units. Motorized assets for emergency mobilizations. Certifications for cyber, medical, and leagal professionals.
As the number of challenges facing the state has grown, so have the missions and response capabilities of the California State Guard. As a volunteer emergency response force, the service members who give their time and energy to train for free year-round still need the equipment and support made possible by private donations to the Foundation.
